Section A8 Syrah
Wine
De Bortoli Yarra Valley Section A8 Syrah is from an outstanding north-east facing single vineyard, planted at Dixons Creek in 1971. The soil is sedimentary and very high in iron.
The handpicked grapes are open fermented as both whole bunches and whole berries with natural yeasts. During the ferment the fruit is foot plunged and pumped over several times.
The juice is pressed and settled overnight, then transferred to seasoned French oak casks for 10 months of maturation. Gravity is used to transfer the wine at all stages of vinification.
Garnet red, De Bortoli Yarra Valley Section A8 Syrah has rich dark fruit flavours, graphite character and stony, fine tannins. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
